Comments/Problems:

The main problem I found was the bootloader partitioning and install, the bootloader would not install no matter what.
I installed the system anyway and used a rescue disc( actually the SUSE PPC installer) to boot hda7 partition and then configured the system fine.
In fact the new installer is a big improvement, once the bootloader issue is resolved, this will be great on the PPC.
The system is very stable, Synaptic is a joy to use, all in all a great job, I will be keeping this system to keep it up to date, when the PPC bootloader is fixed I will do a reinstall.
