okay, I guess I did not read the bug again, before posting it. okay -
here's how I did solve this problem

I first I fixed /etc/fstab
then I created the symlink in /dev (on the installer image)
then I unmounted /target (it was still on /dev/rd/disc0/part1) 

then I mounted /dev/rd/c0d0p1 on /target (/dev/rd/c0d0p1 is a symlink
to /dev/rd/disc0/part1) 

then both the installation of the kernel, and the installation of grub
went on without a hitch.

The main problem as i see it, about the DAC960 is that it is more or
less useless if you have more than 1GB memory. It's absolutly useless if
you have more than 4 GB
