Ah -- yes, I'd overlooked that little tidbit.  Sounds like we've got
*something* wrong with the devfs support in these kernels. :/
Unfortunately, I don't think I have a SCSI CDROM on hand to throw in
this box and test with, so this may take some time to shake out.
