I don't think this is a bug, or if it is it's minor. The prompting only happens at low priority, so most users will never see it. If some users have hardware that only works with a special parameter then they can use low priority mode and it will be annoying but they will be able to set it. Not ideal, but not too bad. ddetect 0.54 helps some by only prompting for modules that are actually available to load and not yet loaded. The old ddetecrt prompted for modules that were not even available, and modules that were already loaded! -- see shy jo
