Yep, a net retriever would not be an option in this case. What about
retrieving directly from stuff on the harddrive ?

Well, you also have to configure the /etc/ppp/options file correctly, i
use :

plugin /usr/lib/pppd/2.4.2b3/pppoatm.so 8.35

in it. The 8.35 may be provider specific though.
