How many ram is available in this beast? :) While playing with tftp and network boot, I'll got this error message on many machines (i386, 3com or intel nic). The machines have 32MB and up to 512 MB ram, so a small 1.44MB floppy should be small enough to fit into the memory. Which tftp server you're using? Maybe you should use tftp-hpa, it support more options which are required from "modern" network cards (modern means intel's view of good network card firmeware :)). And maybe you should also try to boot with a simple floppy over the network: http://www.rom-o-matic.net/ Good luck :) Thorsten btw. I'm currently testing d-i with network boot on my laptop and in vmware. -- Thorsten Sauter <tsauter@gmx.net> (Is there life after /sbin/halt -p?)
