When you upgraded did you also upgrade the kernel? Were you upgrading
using 'apt-get' ?
I can't help thinking this must be a kernel issue... Perhaps if you
stay back at the Potato kernel things will be ok? Otherwise, you
might ask on the debian-sparc list.
