Sounds like your root partition is not in fact /dev/sda5 but rather
something else? I don't know if PREP Open Firmware does device
remapping or not...
Could you test this using the Woody (Debian 3.0) images? We are very
low on PREP testers.

What is the URL? Is this a kernel problem? If so, please test in
woody, and if there's still a problem, probalby file a separate bug on
kernel-image-2.2.20-prep .
