I was inadvertantly using the new-powermac yaboot.conf with the
powermac root.bin and kernel when I was doing this on my iMac. Sorry,
my bad.
I had tried an install earlier on the oldworld but didn't have a
complete archive (and that network card is a module so I needed
it). That's where I found the mac-fdisk problem, so I decided to
switch to the iMac while the stuff was downloading on the first
computer.
With the fixed mac-fdisk, everything should be fine.
I just went and fired up the oldworld, everthing was fine until I
started the Base install. I tripped on the famous Malformed Release
file bug.
The only item showing in the vc3 log before that, is
running '/usr/sbin/debootstrap --boot-floppies --arch powerpc woody /target http://debian.tod.net:80/debian
Malformed release file http://debian.tod.net:80/debian/dists/woody/Release
In /target/var/lib/apt/lists/ I find:
Absolutely nothing! Just . and ..
I'll leave this computer just like it is, if someone can suggest some
troubleshooting steps to nail this sucker once and for all.
