Since I have the /dev/hda4 unchanged, I just checked what's going on there
right now (following the installation attempt my original message referred
to).

retina:/mnt/var/cache/apt/archives# ls -l
total 896
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 69374 Jan 12 19:10 adduser_3.45_all.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 172562 Jan 12 19:11 apt-utils_0.5.4_i386.deb-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 614918 Jan 12 19:10 apt_0.5.4_i386.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 37472 Jan 12 19:12 at_3.1.8-10_i386.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Jan 12 19:16 base-config_1.33.7_all.deb

The first 3 files are identical to images I downloaded from the ftp site
manually.
The at_3.1.8-10_i386.deb has exactly the same size as the Packages file
specified (a Packages file I just downloaded). However, I checked 3 ftp
sites, but they had no ``at'' for i386 at their pools!
I check ftp.tau.ac.il, ftp.uk.debian.org and sunsite.cnlab-switch.ch .
(I have problems with ftp.debian.org so I couldn't check it;
I get a ``Use PASV instead'' message (or sth like that) at the first ``dir''
command I give, and it gets stuck).

Is there any problem with the ``at'' package at the pool for i386?

Regarding the base-config, the archives do have it, so it was probably not
downloaded at all (zero size file created on /dev/hda4).

Maybe it is a pool problem with the at package???

Didn't check that :(
