    Several programs fail to find wtmp which is located in
/var/log/wtmp.utmpd including last, logrotate and such.

Perhaps this file was removed by the operator to prevent logging last info.
druid:~# ls /var/log/wtmp*
/var/log/wtmp.utmpd
druid:~# ln -s wtmp.utmpd /var/log/wtmp
druid:~# last -1
shade    tty4                          Sat Mar 27 16:05   still logged in

wtmp begins Sat Mar 27 14:33:36 1999

This bug has been fixed for quite some time now in the potato
boot-floppies.  Thanks for your report, sorry it took so long for us
to get around to closing this.
