Is your hard disk detected by the BIOS ? If so, check whether the HD is detected by the kernel : open a new terminal (Alt-F2) and do a 'dmesg |more' in the messages, see if your HD appears.

Please don't send proprietary format documents, I can't (and don't want to) open them.
Appreciated are open-source formats like .txt or .rtf. Dvi, ps or tex files are welcome.
