Bug#68217: base: Bash stops itself, while saying: stopping myself....

Package: base
Version: 20000801
Severity: grave

I am using Debian GNU/Linux slink 2.2 and I found that bash shell cannot
stand the input of following:

ESC 99999 and '-'

That shows the prompt like (arg: 99999), I type the "-" and it goes
and goes until it says:

Report this to bash-maintainers@prep.ai.mit.edu
Stopping myself...

If the number is even greater it says:

block on free list clobbered
last command: top
Report this to bash-maintainers@prep.ai.mit.edu
Stopping myself...

So, bash just exits, I am wondering if it takes care of other
programs running under that bash. I don't think so.
