To some extent I can.  /lib/modules should be a symlink to
/target/lib/modules.  If not, you can make that symlink from the shell
in tty2.  /target/lib/modules/2.2.15 (or whatever, depending on
flavor) should have modules.deb in it.  If not, be sure the symlink is
there and do 'depmod -a', I think.

Sorry for these modules problems.  Our modconf subsystem is not yet
entirely working I think.
