I have 1.5M of modules (sound in the kernel, sans NIC drivers and SCSI
and most nls stuff), for an 486 box... it looks like 3-4M per well
stocked kernel is needed in /.

This implies a / partition of:

	use			size
try it out | small system	20M
typical				30-40M
developer			50+M

partitioning.sgml says, `30-50M', ok.

The same doc says nothing about the size of /var, except that it varies;
it would be nice to at least have a minimum and an idea of the variance.

Hmmm, should I ask on -testing and -user for the output of "du -sm /var"
on potato systems... or is there a cleaner way?
