Re: Why can I not more install from ZIP-Disk ???
Hello,
I recently purchased an ATAPI zip drive, and did a BIOS upgrade in order
for the machine to see it from a cold boot. I think I can cobble something
together like the LS120 image to make a bootable zip image. But I've
noticed something funny:
On my computer the PC formatted zip disk is /dev/hdc4 (fourth partition)
but on the computer at work the same disk is /dev/hdb (whole disk)
Both computers running kernel 2.2.14 and Potato.
And I'm not sure if syslinux will write boot code for a system on a
partition.
And without ide-floppy built into the kernel we can't boot from a 1.44MB
disk and load the ramdisk from zip.
Another quiestion is a tool to write an LS120 or custom zip image under
windows, like we have rawrite for floppies. Since I don't have windows at
home I can't do much about trying that. Does anyone know?
And which developer would field patches from me to look over and merge
into CVS? Since I'm not an official developer I don't get write access to
CVS. Or should I just post them to this list?
