Bug#59747: Entering "Configure Device Driver Modules" not allowed

Package: boot-floppies
Version: 2.2.7
Level: Critical

Pressing Enter on "Configure Device Driver Modules" is not possible.
I am at the stage after loading the three driver floppies (disks-1.44)

Pressing Enter on that option drops me back in the "Debian/GNU Linux
Installation Main Menu" and I get the following message on the top of the
screen:
"You've configured the device driver modules. Please select ''Next'' to
install the base system",
however, I haven't even had the chance to load hp100 module and configure
the network yet.

ifconfig eth0 on tty2 says: "error fetching interface information: device
not found."

The hardware is a HP NetServer 5/66 LC, with a 100VG-based EISA HP J2577
network card.
