A zgrep of the base tarball finds /etc/kbd/default.kmap.gz,
after installation /etc/kbd also contains a default.map.gz.
The default.kmap.gz file is an azerty mapping.
the default.map.gz file is the mapping selected during the install.
Slink used *.map.gz files, Potato uses *.kmap.gz files.
It looks like the installation system is stuck in Slink with respect to
setting up the keyboard.
