Bug#57094: cannot boot from compaq SmartArray 221 with frozen boot-floppies 2.2.5

i debated over which package to file the bug against. since the kernel
starts to boot from the rescue disk (see below) boot-floppies won out. of
course, it *could* be a kernel problem as well i guess.

that was one of the first things i tried (with root=/dev/ida/c0d0p1) and
that's when i got the VFS kernel panic about device 00:00. which doesn't
make a lot of sense to me since i wouldn't figure that /dev/ida/c0d0p1
would be device 00:00. anyway, i can send you the exact error message
from the kernel panic on monday.

do you want me to get this from /target *before* the first reboot during
installation? otherwise, like i said above, i can't boot the machine
after configuring the base system.
