I am theoretically in favor of this change.  With the caveat that I am
only interested in eliminating /etc/init.d/network and replacing that
with /etc/network/interfaces.  Which is to say, I do not propose to
change any PCMCIA stuff at this point.

Stefan, please send a patch to this list so we may peruse it.  You
should be patching form the boot-floppies CVS area.
