Bug#54514: base: depmod -a (2.3.9) fails if more than one kernel modules are on /lib/modules.
Package: base
Version: 20000109
Severity: important
-- System Information
Debian Release: potato
Kernel Version: Linux hugo 2.2.14 #5 SMP Fri Jan 7 00:03:50 CET 2000 i686 unknown
`apt-get upgrade' on Sun Jan 9 01:08:54 2000
1) dep-mod -a
Scans all directories in /lib/modules, evan older and newer kernels,
leading to lots of
`depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in ...'
warnings and a broken
`/lib/modules/`uname -r`/modules.dep'
file.
This makes
`/etc/rcS.d/S20modutils'
useless, more than that `modprobe' crashes in it.
2) dep-mode -a FORCED_VERSION
Doesn't accept the FORCED_VERSION parameter as documented (same
result as in 1).
After a short look at the source, I feel that both problems are
related, so I combined both in this error report.

As I'm trying Debian's `bug' tool the first time, I don't know if
there is the chance to note:
