Re: [FYI] lilo can not parse compact

I can confirm that lilo ran successfully when I changed
	root=
to
	root=/dev/hda6

I had thought that lilo was supposed to default correctly with a blank, but
I guess not.
So this looks to be more a bug with the setup of lilo.conf at initial
system creation (I suppose that
it uses liloconfig) than with lilo itself.

So there seem to be 3 possibilities, which I will list in decreasing
likelihood:
1) there is a bug in the setup of lilo.conf (which is either for
boot-floppy or liloconfig to fix)
2) while "lightly editing" lilo.conf I accidentally deleted the material
after root=
3) lilo is supposed to handle root= correctly.

I ran the install off boot floppies (2.2.3). I got the base system off my
hard disk.
When asked about handling of the boot, I said I did not want to make the
system boot automatically
(i.e., no writes to the MBR of the disk). My root and boot are the same.
