Package: bootdisk
Version: 2.1.3

The Debian rescue disk shuts off the backlight after kernel boot and before
dinstall starts. This produces a blank screen, making it tough to install
the system. :-) I solved the problem by compiling and using a custom kernel
with a configuration which I have attached to this message; I think that the
major change is that I turned APM and console blanking ON in the kernel--I
actually am ignorant as to precisely why this fixed the problem, but I can
see the install dialog now.

This seems to have been reported as bug #20133 of boot-floppies also.

  Daniel
