I'm doing this as well. Maybe we should combine forces? My approach uses a kernel
PnP handler which will detect PnP-ISA devices (hopefully), and also PnP-BIOS
and PCI devices. An interface for legacy device "detectors" is also in the works
at the moment.

But, my current work is on a "drivers" system, which will automatically construct
sections for the "modules" and "conf.modules" files for the devices one has
installed. This can easily then be adapted to load modules for the boot disks.

this list). It will be released shortly anyway.
