Subject: Bug in Installation of Debian hamm

using resc1440.bin form hamm

Problem: I try to install Debian Linux on a Harddisk, where there has
been a different Linux before (and there is a DOS-partition and a
NeXT-Partition).

First boot from resc1440.bin is done, Keyboard etc. configured.
Swap & Linux Partitions are configured and mounted. The files
resc1440.bin, drv1440.bin and base2_0.tgz are in the root directory of
the DOS partition. When I select the option

Install Opertating System abd Device Drivers

and choose as installation medium "from hardrive"

and the installation procedure finds the directory, where the
disk-images are, I get the error message:

/dev/loop0: bad superblock or wrong fs type cannot mount /dev/loop0
(type msdos) on /floppy

There is the only option to Continue, but the system hangs then.

Before, I tried newer version of the rescue disks from
debian-incoming. With those, things worked at that stage, but I got an
error message, that the installation of base2_0.tgz did not complete.
It looked first like a corrupt file, but the same file could be
unpacked with no problem under NeXT using gnutar/gunzip.
