Bug#31240: boot-floppies: cant install with nfsroot

On attempting an install with root.bin mounted via nfsroot (since
my custom kernel and root.bin don't fit on a single disk) I get this:
"Problem: I had trouble checking the choice of root device.
I don't know what to use as the root fs. [continue]"
Selecting [continue] reboots the system instead of continuing.
