The closest I know to a cookbook is to checkout boot-floppies cvs (see
instructions at cvs.debian.org, and this list archive for problems people have
had) and look at :
boot-floppies/documentation/README-authors
and
boot-floppies/utilities/dbootstrap/po/README

You can post patches to this list.
