it would - it's just that you have to pick the right hardware. you
really do need to start from a base which already has linux on it.
take a peek through these:
the further down the list you get, the older the hardware so the
chances of getting it are slim.
however, there is one other option: hp compaq iPaqs. some of these
are _excellent_ and you can get cradles which include a shed-load of
options. start at http://handhelds.org and go from there, you'll find
a shed-load of PDAs with instructions on how to install linux.
.... but you will _not_ find debian to be amongst them, because it's
still too much work to compress debian down to fit into 64mb of NAND
overall, in this very very specialist area, you should be
understanding why it is that people pay money for shit proprietary
