Thank you very much for the fix. However, there must be something wrong with the above commands; in the second one, there is no more „initrd.img-2.6.24-1-ixp4xx“ left as it has been moved to „initrd.img-2.6.24-1-ixp4xx~“ in the first command (?)
With my system, it worked to replace the second command with the following: „mv initrd.img-2.6.24-1-ixp4xx.bak initrd.img-2.6.24-1-ixp4xx“.
Also, as this solution is intended for people whose root partition is not on sda1 (otherwise it would probably be easier to flash the image „sda1-2.6.24-1.bin“ provided by Martin) it should be mentioned that in the line
~ # mount /dev/sda1 /x
„sda1“ has to be replaced by „sda2“ or an other „sdaX“.
