Package: apache
Version: 1.3.28-4
Severity: normal

The postinst for apache calls db_input for a number of debconf variables
that are not mentioned in the config script at all. This breaks
debconf's pre-configuration with APT, causing it to prompt for these
questions halfway through the installation.

Ideally, _all_ questions should be asked in the 'config' script. See
debconf-devel(7) for more details.

Hi,
i have been discussing this bug here at debconf4 with other
developers. We almost all agreed that this bug cannot be fixed and should
be closed, since the "ideal way of using debconf" cannot be achivied
without implementing a very complex .config script that will require a lot
of duplicate code (from apache-modconf), increasing the already too high
complexity of apache scripts, introducing another possible big point of
failure for a one time use feature.
