I got the listing with Knoppix v3.8 installed. I see v4.0 is out now. I don't see any network controllers with lspci. Networking does work with Knoppix.

That is an awfully large number of bridges. Are there any PCIexpress in
the system? I have read stuff about PCI to PCIexpress bridges not being
configured correctly on the linux kernel mailing list in the last few
days. I wonder if the ethernet is hiding behind one such bridge.

There are two slots labeled PCI Express x16, and three labeled PCI-X (two 100 MHz and one 133MHz).

Yes, it is SCSI. It sounds like from another person responding to my post that I need at least 2.6.10 installed. I really want to run sarge on this machine as that is what I'm running on all our other Linux installs. It seems like I'm going to have to install a few crutches (older cards) to get the basic installation done and then go from there.

Well there are people with 2.6.11 install cds from february that have
posted the url for those on the amd64 debian list so you could go grab
one of those and try if that works, and manually load the forcedeth
driver from console 2 during the install and see if that all works out.
You can then grab 2.6.11 from testing or unstable after installing.

Thanks for the tip(s). I'll dig up the 2.6.11 install CDs later this week. Will report back on what happens.

Cheers,
Gary
