I tried installing Ubuntu Linux today and found that it would not work at all. I was able to narrow it down to CONFIG_PCI_MSI option in the kernel. Sometime after 2.6.7 it was enabled in the main Debian kernels, the pure64 kernels, and the Ubuntu kernels. It is default to N in the upstream kernel and suggests to leave it at N. There is a reason for that since it doesn't always work properly and on my laptop in particular it causes my laptop not to work at all. There is also no way to disable it at boot time, so it would be best to have it off in the Debian/Pure64/Ubuntu kernels if at all possible. Thanks, Chris Cheney
