Promise or VIA?

Hi,

I have MSI K8T Neo Series Mainboard, and a SATA HD. This HD can be pluged or 
to the Promise 20378 controler (RAID if you have more than one) or to the 
VIA® VT8237.

I think, that the Promise controler has a transfer rate up ot 133MB/s and the 
Via chipset 150MB/s transfer rate [1]. Howeber, also I have found that this 
value can differ a lot depending of the driver (as always...). I would like 
to know if someone that some experience with these chipsets and which one 
recommends knowing the driver under Debian amd64 port. I only have one HD and 
I can plug it to the VIA or the Promise.
