Arrghh!

That's a real bummer.  It would be nice if we didn't have to choose
between a broken gcc and a broken kernel.  :-)

If anyone has time to look into building a gcc that produces 64-bit code
by default, but supports -m32, and still puts 64-bit libs in /lib and
/usr/lib...  go ahead :-)

Otherwise, I will try to at some point but I am going to be very low on
time the next several days.
