I use gcc 2.95.2. You need a newer binutils to assemble one file in usr, all
the rest should be fairly happy with whatever binutils you use.

There's a known problem with revent binutils. If amiboot complains, try

Should work fine (my A4000/040 runs 2.6.8.1)!
Any special hardware extensions (e.g. SCSI)?
