Ramdisk Creation

I scanned LDP, Linux.Debian.68k & Comp.OS.Linux & drew a blank
on ram disk creation.  The devices are there, but how do you define the
size?
Is it similar to creating a file system on a floppy?
e.g. mke2fs /ram0 nnnnK?
