Problems installing rpm

This is the error I get when trying to 'dpkg -i rpm_2.4.12-7.deb':

(Reading database ... 3467 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking rpm (from rpm_2.4.12-7.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing rpm_2.4.12-7.deb (--install):
error setting ownership of symlink "usr/lib/libbuild.so": no such file or
directory
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
Errors were encountered while processing:
 rpm_2.4.12-7.deb

Any thoughts? Also, if it is feasible, could someone email me a compiled
tarball of a recent version of rpm? (For 68k, please.)
