Re: Writing to DVD

Sorry for the late reply, haven't checked the lists recently.

I'm quite curious to know how and why this works aswell.

I tried applying this patch to my kernel, and it completely killed DVD
writing altogether. The kernel log shows the following:

kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 2
kernel: ide-scsi: hdc: unsupported command in request queue (0)
kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 4
kernel: ide-scsi: hdc: unsupported command in request queue (0)
kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 6
kernel: attempt to access beyond end of device
kernel: 0b:00: rw=0, want=34, limit=2

As a result I now have several DVD+RWs that the DVD writer refuses to
recognise. When inserting them the drive's access light illuminates
continuously,
and I am unable to access the device. Any ideas on how I can erase
these discs so I can continue my experimentation?

Thanks,
Lee
