Incidentally, searching in tldp.org for ACL found this.
"http://tldp.org/LDP/LGNET/152/prestia.html";
"... if you do an "ls -l", the listing will show a "+" at the end of the permissions 
for each filename that has ACLs enabled:"

The search for ls -l might have found it also but I didn't look 
far down the list.
