I've read the upstream thread, as I can understand, it's related to the kernel, isn't it? Why not forwarding the issue on the Kernel?

I've migrated from Jessie to Stretch yesterday and I found this issue really annoying, IMO the severity of this bug should be raised. We have to backport the fix on the stable branch. I cannot use a computer that has visual flashes regularly. I've spent one hour to figure out the issue and to find this bug.

I've apply the work around to save my life but a regular user couldn't do that.
