For the time being, I downgraded to version 1.0.0.5-2 of evdev and put it on hold. It isn't clear to me from Mr. Parsons' response what the maintainer is going to do about the problem. Is xserver-xorg-core >= 2.1.1.1-1 going to be put in the testing pool, or is xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1.1.2-3 going to be removed from the pool? In either case, holding evdev at 1.0.0.5-2 will provide stability until things get sorted out. e-mail me off-list if you need help with this.
