Bug#1053992: RFP: searxng -- Privacy-respecting, hackable metasearch engine

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-Cc: avery@imrua.org

* Package name    : searxng
  Version         : 1.0.0
  Upstream Author : Markus Heiser
* URL             : https://docs.searxng.org
* License         : AGPL-3+
  Programming Lang: Python, Node.js
  Description : Privacy-respecting, hackable metasearch engine

- Why is this package useful/relevant?

SearxNG is a self-hosted metasearch engine, and a longstanding (10
years), maintained fork of Searx.

Searx is currently packaged for Debian, and part of the FreedomBox pure
blend. Unfortunately, as has been widely reported, Searx is no longer
maintained (https://github.com/searx/searx "This repository has been
archived by the owner on Sep 7, 2023. It is now read-only.").

Packaging SearxNG would provide a replacement for Debian users looking
to self-host their search engine.
