I'd also recommend reseating the drive cables when this kind of job is
done. More common in the IDE days, but I once cleared (I think, I hope)
a very obscure fault by reseating a SATA cable.
It's easy to forget that all this fancy digital electronics is really
analogue, and a slightly misshapen waveform might occasionally be
misinterpreted, especially if something else causes a slight bump on
ihe power line at the wrong nanosecond. These pretty square waves with
sharp edges in diagrams often look like a range of well-worn hills in
real life, and of course hanging an oscilloscope on the line distorts
it even more...
