"any" USB pen drive? I.e. "a" or "it doesn't matter which pen drive I
try"

[pls don't be offended: English is not my first (or 2nd) language
either]

So it worked before.

What changed? New packages installed? Config changes?

Unless the cause is "solar spots" or wear-and-tear, something must have
changed on the PC side of things...

If lsusb no longer shows it, the problem is at kernel-level or
hardware-level...

But then I'd expect more entries in the system log that says something
along the lines of

localhost kernel: usb-4-2: USB disconnect, address 28

Anything like that in the log? If so, then the entries BETWEEN the two
sets might reveal some interesting information...

Does this happen regardless of which USB pen drive you try? If it only
happens for a certain pen drive, I'd suspect faulty "penware"..
