Do 3 things :
    1)  add
            deb ftp://ftp.tux.org/pub/java/debian/ woody non-free
        to your sources.list and update

    2)  apt-get install j2sdk1.3

    3)  quit, then restart galeon

The key parts of the package are 

/usr/lib/j2re1.3/plugin/i386/mozilla/javaplugin_oji.so
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/javaplugin_oji.so

Also, galeon must be restarted for any plugin changes to take effect.
