either your drive is misconfigured in the bios or by LILO (would be nice
if you included full info on the drive that your getting errors on)

but its more likely that the drive is failing, if its a recent IBM or
Maxtor both companies have excellent diagnostics software for their
drives, not sure about other companies.

also is this error on a fresh install or has the system been running a
while then this started happening?  a bout 2 weeks ago i powered down a
p100 (with debian) to yank the cdrom, another admin fired it up a week
later and 2 out of 3 of the drives were dead.
