Em sembla que és més senzill que tot això: com a root fes "update-grub" i ell ja s'encarrega decercar els nous nuclis al directori /boot i actualitzar convenientment el /boot/grub/menu.lst Si això no funciona segurament és perquè deus haver modificat (conscientment o no) el fitxer "menu.lst" anterior i li deus haver dit que no actualitzi automàticament els nuclis.
