Bug#214824: tetex-bin: fails to install ("Could not find default config file for pdftex")

Yes.

Nope:

  rmh@aragorn:~$ ls /etc/texmf/pdftex/pdftex.cfg

There was no output (exit status is 1).

That didn't help, I get the same error as reported.
