Package: tetex-bin
Version: 2.0.2-4.1
Severity: normal

The defaults for tetex-bin are to not manage files with update-texmf and
update-fmtutil. This seems to break the install of jadetex. The
symbolic link check at the beginning of the scripts cause them to exit
early. This leaves the system in a state such that jadetex can't be
installed. The tail end of jadetex Bug#183285 has a failure log. If
this is a jadetex issue please post a suggest fix to Bug#183285

Running the the scripts by hand or allowing tetex-bin to manage the
config files will allow jadetex to install properly. However this
failure will still occur for in fresh pbuilder chroots.

     - eliminate "running 'fmtutil --all' to rebuild existing TeX", it
should never happen and it's just slowing down the failure case
     - cosmetic changes
     - when producing our own memory dumps, use 'fmtutil --cnffile to our
specific file in /etc/texmf/fmt.d, since user may have the debconf
       question tetex-bin/fmtutil turned off

NB: last two bugs filed against tetex-bin; 'grr' to the tetex
