Bug#142494: tetex-bin: cron.daily want to write on /usr
Thank you for your bug report.
Had you looked at the BTS before filing your report, you would
have found that it had already been reported, and, in fact, has
been fixed in a soon-to-be-uploaded version of tetex-bin.
In the meantime, if the situation is causing you immediate
problems, you can read the discussion on the original bug
(141086), which explains some possible workarounds, and includes a
patch to the /etc/cron.daily/tetex-bin that stops modification of
the /usr/local/{lib.share}/texmf/ls-R file and a patch to
/etc/texmf/texmf.d/05TeXMF that changes the TEXMF environment
variable so that TeX tools can still find files in /usr/local
directories without the ls-R file.
Thank you again for your report.
